diy tomato soup that warms your belly

Hello, It's been too long. Slap my wrist and call me a busy mom. Life has a way of keeping us busy doesn't it? In trying to stay warm this winter, I tried, for the first time to make my own tomato soup. I found this recipe in my February issue of Chatelaine magazine. Here is the process: butter, onion and garlic cooked until soft organic, Ontario tomatoes Other than my parents' canned tomatoes, this would be the next best thing. In our case, my kids are not keen on a strong red pepper taste so I used a small red pepper and more carrot. Left over broth is usually good in the fridge for 7 days. I just grab a marker and mark my new best before date on the top. I own a stick blender so I could puree my mixture right in the pot instead of transferring to another appliance, which makes this soup even easier to make. I really, really like this soup. The recipe calls for 1/8 of a teaspoon of cayenne

Staying positive during a pandemic

Sometimes I forget there is a pandemic happening 'out there'. I get caught up in laundry, dishes, and cooking meals. It feels like a normal Saturday to me. The sound of the EMERGENCY ALERT quickly brings me back to reality. Sometimes I feel uneasy when I look at the calendar. The unknown is a hard one to swallow. "This won't last forever.", I tell myself. Time is something we all have a lot of, so I have lost myself in a book series. The most reading I have done in a very long time. I find myself playing with paints and pastels, just for fun. I have been keenly focused on my health. Yoga, meditation and walking everyday. I even juiced some carrots, celery, apple and beets today. Noah helped, wondering what kind of saw I was using in the kitchen this afternoon. It's all good.

A curious mind - a happy kid

I borrowed a book from the library titled, 'A Curious Mind - The Secret to a Bigger Life', written by Brian Grazer. He writes: "Without curiosity, none of this would have happened. More than intelligence or persistence or connections, curiosity has allowed me to live the life I wanted." Brian Grazer is a movie and TV producer - 'A Beautiful Mind', 'Apollo 13', 'Liar, Liar', 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas', 'The Da Vinci Code', '24', 'Arrested Development', and 'Parenthood', to name a few. He explains: "I'd like to tell stories about the sheer joy of discovery that open-ended curiosity offers. That's the kind of joy we have as kids when we learn things just because we're curious.
